A cobalt blue majolica tobacco jar in pristine condition with a lighthearted decoration. An odd combination of two pipe smoking gentlemen relaxing under a palmtree accompanied by a hound. The motif is repeated twice. Oriental vegetal decoration adorn the bottom half and the lid. The Marzi & Remy pottery mark on the base, a stylized potter's wheel, was in use until 1964.

Famous designers such as Albin Müller, Peter Behrens and Henry Van de Velde designed motifs for Marzi & Remy.
